Kemba Walker was interviewed at the team’s shootaround and was asked about the opportunity Boston has in the play-in. “It’s a chance for us to play against a team that’s playing super well,” said Walker, “just kind of test and challenge ourselves to get a win.”
Before getting a stretch of games off for his oblique strain, Walker was on a scoring tear, playing some of his best basketball of the season. When asked if he was concerned about cooling off, Walker said “that’s something I thought about, but it’s kind of always a fine line… I was still putting my work in… trying to stay in rhythm as best as I can… I feel really good right now, and just looking forward to tomorrow.”
Russell Westbrook has been on a tear lately as well, and when asked about his thoughts on Westbrook, Kemba didn’t hesitate to offer praise. “That dude is incredible,” said Walker, “I know him personally so you know for me it’s just like wow… to do what he’s been doing over the last couple years man it’s something special, and he’s a special player… he’s such a hard worker, and it’s just been paying off… we know what we’re facing… we got to bring it.”
With the postseason here, Walker said “The season’s over… at this point’s everybody’s 0-0.”
When asked if his experience in NCAA tourneys and his historic run at UConn would help him prepare, Walker said “I kind of forgot, that’s ten years ago… just got to take it one game at a time… you lose you’re out… for us, we want to win, we’re going out there to win and that’s it.”
