Kevin Durant was interviewed postgame after the Nets’ 130-108 blowout of the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of their series. He talked about the Nets’ solid defense, their improved offense, and his evolution as a defensive player.
Durant talked about their solid team defense. He said this: “A lot of people are comparing our defense now to the regular season, I think every teams defense has ramped it up in the playoffs… we was able to get some reps right after the regular season was over… we needed to actually get our reps in practice.”
He also spoke about their improved offense after a slow start in Game 1. This is what he had to say: “I’m more concerned about our defense, but offensively when Joe gets it going like that, that unlocks our whole team… we got to be ready for any defense that’s thrown at us.”
Lastly, Rachel Nichols asked Durant about his evolution as a defensive player. This was his response: “I feel like I’ve always been a good defender… early on in my career I was asked to score… I felt like I was always helping, learning what help defense was like… I’ve just been trying to learn from the defenders on my team, from my coaches… I’m still looking to improve in all areas of defense… I haven’t been a liability… my teammates trust me… I’m more so a visual guy so seeing Thabo Sefolosha go to work early in my career was probably the biggest lesson… he’s a guy I watched everyday… and then Andre Iguodala and Draymond Green… Klay Thopmson as well… I just tried to take from everybody I’ve played with.”
