Kyrie Irving was interviewed postgame after the Nets’ 123-109 win and series victory vs the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs. He spoke about how it feels to win the series, the overall time spent with the big three, and the matchup ahead vs the Milwaukee Bucks.
Irving talked about how it felt to win the series vs the Celtics: “We just want to take it one day at a time… just feel like we’ve made strides in just a short period of time… in any competitive field you want your opponent to feel some sort of physicality, and I feel like we did that.”
He also spoke about the time spent together with the big three: “I think I agree with the sentiment, we just don’t want to take any of this time for granted… three of the best scorers… on one team… we just want everyone to feel good, we’re a selfless group… we do understand that the expectations on us to perform, to lead our team… we just don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves.”
Lastly, Irving was asked about the matchup ahead vs the Bucks, giving this response: “We do understand it’s a long journey… we want to celebrate our small wins… they’re right in front of us in a few days… excited to think about the task at hand… we’ll deal with that when that time comes… thankful we got out of here healthy… we want to give all the respect to those guys and all the hard work they put in… that boy Jayson Tatum over the course I played with, him has grown tremendously, nothing short of proud of him.”
