The Celtics welcomed the Indiana Pacers to town on Monday night. In what turned out to be an ugly and grueling game offensively for both teams, Boston won in overtime 101-98.

“We weren’t as sharp as we wanted to be pretty much all game, but especially in the first and second quarter,” said Udoka in his postgame interview, “it wasn’t even much pressure.” The Celtics at one point scrapped the double big lineup as well as benching Dennis Schroder for the last 9:20 of play, an indication that Coach Udoka is learning to make some adjustments. “We went away from the double big lineup,” said Udoka, “Grant can do both (shoot and defend)…Richardson over Dennis for defensive purposes.”

On locking in and turning up their defensive pressure as a collective unit, Robert Williams said “We’re really just telling each other we need to man up, stand your ground.”

Jaylen Brown had commented last game in his postgame presser that Brown and Tatum had a discussion and were on the same page about the team and their duo. Tatum elaborated on it, saying that the two said “We both want to be here and we both want to figure it out. We want it bad. We want to figure it out together. There’s not too many players in the league like JB. We’ve got each other’s back.”
