The Celtics look to snap a two-game skid as they travel to Washington to take on the Wizards. Jayson Tatum bounced back in spectacular fashion and had a dominant performance in Boston’s 116-87 blowout win over the Washington Wizards on Sunday.
Tatum scored 51 PTS, 48 PTS in the first three quarters, and 31 PTS in the first half (career high for 1st half scoring). Tatum shot 9-14 from range (a career high in makes) after missing his last 20 shots from behind the arc. That stretch was the longest three point drought of Tatum’s career.
“Sometimes you’ve gotta laugh it off,” said Tatum of his shooting slump. “It’s as simple as, sometimes you just don’t make shots.”
“The way to fix it, obviously, you keep putting in the work,” said Tatum. By getting that first three to go down, Tatum said “you kind of get it off your back.”
“It’s us versus everybody,” said Smart, “Nobody believes in us besides the people on this team.”
On Marcus Smart’s performance in his return to the lineup, Udoka said Smart was “Solid. That’s what he’s been all year. His defensive presence, his toughness, that’s what he brings to the team. He’s invaluable.”
