Marcus Smart was interviewed following the team’s shootaround as they prepared for the Wizards. On the one-game elimination format, Marcus Smart said “We want to win every game… we just got to go out there and focus on what’s in front of us.”
On star Bradley Beal and trying to contain him, Smart said “It’s going to take a team effort… I’m not going to be on him the whole time… [Beal] can score the ball from any position on the court.”
Beal is not the only star in Washington, and Boston must prepare for Russell Westbrook as well. Smart complimented Westbrook’s game, saying he’s been playing “phenomenal man… it’s a sight to see, it’s an inspiration… you just got to tip your hat to that guy.”
When asked about where his health is at, Smart said “I’m feeling great, the time off with the rest definitely helped… these extra days that we can get help.” Marcus Smart was touched by the Twitter Telethon led by Twitter user Ryan “Riffs Man” Hebert. “It was great… words can’t even complain, I was smiling from ear to ear when I heard about it… it just shows that people care… I appreciate everybody who donated and everybody who put this together… I’m very thankful.”
On keeping focus and pushing forward, Smart said “You got to tip your hat off to those guys [Wizards]… we got to deal with what’s in front of us… it’s 0-0… we got to go out there and take advantage of it… there’s no excuses now.”
