Patriots 2023 Schedule – New England Opens as Underdogs vs. Eagles in Season Opener

The Patriots will have an uphill battle on their hands when they honor Tom Brady in their 2023 season opener.

Much like just about everything else on their calendar, the NFL also milks out “Schedule Release Day” every year.

Well, today is that day! The league officially unveils their 272-game, 18-week regular season schedule on Thursday evening, and our exclusive wagering partners at FanDuel Sportsbook already have odds up for the Patriots’ week one game.

Here are the lines for the Patriots vs. Eagles matchup from Gillette Stadium:

Week 1 Odds – Patriots vs. Eagles

    Spread: Eagles -3.5

    Total: 46.5

    Moneyline: Eagles -166/Patriots +140

After opening up with the Miami Dolphins for the last three seasons, New England will have a different opponent in week one for the first time since 2019.

The Philadelphia Eagles, led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, are coming off of a 14-3 regular season record in 2022 that they followed up with an appearance in Super Bowl LVII (which they lost to the Chiefs).

As such, they lost both of their coordinators to head coaching jobs and will look to find success once again in 2023 (with a shrunken salary cap) after signing Hurts to a five-year, $255-million contract extension last month.

Week 17: at Buffalo Bills – Sunday, Dec. 31, 1pm EST

Week 18: vs. New York Jets – TBD

    Some notes:

    • The Patriots will honor longtime quarterback and 7x Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady at their home opener vs. the Eagles in week one.
    • The Patriots are tied for the third toughest strength of schedule (.549) heading into 2023.
    • Their bye-week comes directly after their trip to Germany. It splits their schedule up between 10 and 8 games.
    • New England is spending the holidays in Denver this year, as they’ll play against the Broncos on Christmas Eve.
    • The date and time of their last game against the Jets are TBD – as it could be flexed to Saturday or Sunday night if there are major playoff implications.
