Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel’s training camp is officially in the books. Now, New England has until 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday to reduce its roster to a maximum of 53 players on the Active/Inactive List.
As of Tuesday morning, the team’s roster stands at 76 players following the Friday releases of TE Jaheim Bell, RB Micah Bernard, DT Philip Blidi, CB Isaiah Bolden, TE Cole Fotheringham, WR Phil Lutz, LB R.J. Moten, DT Kyle Peko, CB Jordan Polk, LB Monty Rice, IOL Tyrese Robinson, IOL Sidy Sow, RB Shane Watts, amd QB Ben Wooldridge.
Once cuts are made, the Patriots have until 12:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday to claim players on waivers. New England has the fourth waiver claim, corresponding with the 2025 NFL draft order. Claimed players must be added to the 53-man roster.
Once waivers are filed and complete, teams can begin building their 16-man practice squad, or 17 with a member of the NFL’s International Pathway Program. Of those players, at least 10 must be rookies or second-year players.
This list will track all roster moves made by the team to trim and fill its roster.

Waiver Claims
CB/ST Charles Woods
Charles Woods on special teams for the Rams https://t.co/C6mVGkopvA pic.twitter.com/XvRqF664UN
— Taylor Kyles (@tkyles39) August 27, 2025
Charles Woods joined the Rams as an undrafted rookie last season, appearing in 12 games as a core special teamer. Woods allowed four catches on 10 targets this preseason, forced two incompletions, and made two stops while missing three tackles. The slot corner could take Javon Baker’s projected role as a blocker and coverage player in the third phase. The 5’11”, 191 lber also fits the Mike Vrabel slot defender mold in terms of size and physicality, and he brings some outside versatility.
QB Tommy DeVito
Two of Tommy DeVito's best throws vs the #Patriots came on Josh McDaniels play action staples: seam from under center and glance from shotgun https://t.co/xxhLHN9IoD pic.twitter.com/GB9EkDUa35
— Taylor Kyles (@tkyles39) August 27, 2025
Tommy DeVito capped a solid preseason by going 17-20 for 198 yards and three touchdowns in a win over New England, but he was buried behind Russell Wilson, Jaxson Dart, and Jameis Winston with the Giants. DeVito overlapped with Patriots VP of Player Personnel Ryan Cowden from 2023-2024, and New York head coach Brian Daboll runs an offshoot of Josh McDaniels‘ offense.
Post-Cutdown Day Releases
WR Javon Baker
The Patriots are planning to release WR Javon Baker, per a source.
If Baker clears waivers, he could return on the practice squad.
— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 27, 2025
Javon Baker was inconsistent this summer as a backup split ends or “X” receivers, ending the preseason with one catch on 10 targets. The second-year receiver seemed to carve out a role on special teams, making two tackles and excelling as a gunner on punts, but struggles at the catch-point kept him on the fringe of the roster.
WR Kendrick Bourne
The #Patriots are releasing WR Kendrick Bourne upon request after they failed to finalize a trade that would have sent him to Minnesota, per source.
Bourne is healthy and was expected to practice today had he remained in New England. pic.twitter.com/iMRAV7zbb0
— Andrew Callahan (@_AndrewCallahan) August 27, 2025
Kendrick Bourne hadn’t practiced since suffering a lower leg injury early in training camp. Bourne became a top backup at flanker or “Z” once Stefon Diggs became a full participant early this summer, but was injured shortly after. With Mack Hollins‘ emergence and Kyle Williams‘ impressive preseason, Bourne seemed like an odd man out in the wide receiver room.
Injured Reserve
Further context: LB Jahlani Tavai has been designated to return from IR, so he is still eligible to play in 2025.
WR Ja'Lynn Polk was not designated for return, so he will miss the 2025 season. https://t.co/zd4jkYPMYS
— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 26, 2025
LB Jahlani Tavai
Jahlani Tavai went down with an injury early this summer, but he was in the starting rotation with Christian Elliss. Mike Vrabel noted Tavai’s versatility, particularly in the kicking game.
WR Ja’Lynn Polk
Ja’Lynn Polk hasn’t practiced since re-injuring his surgically-repaired shoulder in the preseason opener. Polk was fighting for a rotational role and flashed as a blocker.

Patriots release the following players:
CB Miles Battle
G Mehki Butler
G Jack Conley
CB Brandon Crossley
TE C.J. Dippre
S Marcus Epps
RB JaMycal Hasty

CB Kobee Minor
DT David Olajiga
LB Cam… https://t.co/gwtntQ5ZoQ— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 26, 2025
ED Bradyn Swinson
Bradyn Swinson showed power as a bull rusher and run defender this summer, as well as the ability to win with finesse. That said, Swinson was inconsistent on special teams, where fellow gifted rookie Elijah Ponder showed legitimate upside.
CB Kobee Minor
Kobee Minor brought the competitiveness and edge you want to see from Mr. Irrelevant, but didn’t do enough to climb the depth chart. Minor allowed a 107.6 passer rating on 16 targets, but forced two incompletions and had a stop.
WR Jeremiah Webb
Jeremiah Webb was one of, if not the last receiver on the Patriots’ depth chart this offseason. That didn’t stop him from making standout plays as both a receiver, blocker, and punt returner. Webb could be a great practice squad addition.
OL Jack Conley
Jack Conley lined up inside and out for the Patriots this spring, but he found a home at right tackle over the summer. The undrafted rookie allowed one hurry on 28 pass blocks, but struggled with pad level and too often ended plays on the ground.
DI Jahvaree Ritzee
Jahvaree Ritzee joined the Patriots during their initial wave of undrafted free agent signings. The former Tat Heel registered two hurries and two run stops this preseason.
TE Gee Scott Jr.
Patriots released TE Gee Scott, Jr., per source
— Mark Daniels (@ByMarkDaniels) August 26, 2025
Gee Scott Jr. jointed the Patriots as an undrafted free agent following the draft. Scott made a greater impression than most backups at the position, catching passes from multiple spots, but he finished the preseason without a reception.
RB Terrell Jennings
Patriots released RB Terrell Jennings, per source. The plan is to bring him back on the practice squad.
— Mark Daniels (@ByMarkDaniels) August 26, 2025
Terrell Jennings was injured during the Commanders game after serving as the Patriots’ third-string early-down back in training camp. Jennings registered a rushing touchdown and saw snaps on coverage and return units for both the kick and punt teams.
ED Truman Jones
The Patriots have informed OLB Truman Jones (Harvard) of their intention to waive him.
Jones flashed at times this summer, both as a rusher and on special teams. In the event he clears waivers, would imagine he has a spot on the practice squad waiting for him.
— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 26, 2025
Truman Jones was a top backup at edge defender for the Patriots, typically lining up opposite Anfernee Jennings. Jones was more impactful as a pass rusher this preseason than his three hurries suggest, and he made two run stops along with three special teams tackles.
RB JaMycal Hasty
The Patriots are cutting veteran RB JaMycal Hasty, per source.
— Doug Kyed (@DougKyed) August 26, 2025
JaMycal Hasty returned to the Patriots following injuries to Lan Larison and Terrell Jennings. Hasty averaged 3.5 yards per carry behind shoddy blocking this preseason, but he was reliable as a receiver and pass protector and threw a key block on Marcus Jones’ big punt return in Minnesota.
LB Cam Riley
Patriots are cutting LB Cam Riley, per source
— Mark Daniels (@ByMarkDaniels) August 26, 2025
Cam Riley joined the Patriots as an undrafted free agent and was one of the last linebackers on the depth chart. Riley finished the preseason with three run stops, a 13-yard catch allowed, and two tackle assists on special teams.
G Mehki Butler
Patriots cut Mehki Butler, per source
— Mark Daniels (@ByMarkDaniels) August 26, 2025
Mekhi Butler joined the Patriots as an undrafted free agent and served as a third-string guard throughout the summer.Butler allowed one hurry on 17 pass blocks and flashed physicality as a run blocker this preseason. Per Mark Daniels, the plan is for Butler to return on the practice squad.
C Alec Lindstrom
The Patriots are waiving C Alex Lindstrom, per source.
— Doug Kyed (@DougKyed) August 26, 2025
Alec Lindstrom was signed as center depth at the end of July. The Boston College product allowed two hurries on 25 pass blocks and was an effective run blocker this preseason.
NT David Olajiga
The Patriots are waiving DT David Olajiga, per source. Plan is to sign him to the practice squad.
— Doug Kyed (@DougKyed) August 26, 2025
David Olajiga joined the Patriots in late July as part of the NFL’s International Pathway Program, replacing NT Wilfried Pene. Olajiga finished the preseason with five tackles, including two run stops, and a quarterback hit.
TE CJ Dippre
The #Patriots are releasing TE CJ Dippre, source said.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 26, 2025
CJ Dippre seemed like a potentially solid blocking tight end when he was signed as an undrafted free agent, but the Alabama product never established himself. Dippre finished the preseason without a catch.
FS Marcus Epps
The #Patriots are releasing veteran safety Marcus Epps, per source.
Epps signed as a free agent in March, but it just wasn’t a fit and he wanted a fresh start. Should land elsewhere soon.
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) August 26, 2025
Free agent signing Marcus Epps wasn’t at practice this week after being one of the last safeties on the depth chart all summer. Epps finished the preseason with six total tackles, including two stops, but he allowed completions all four times he was targeted for two touchdowns and a conversion.
WR John Jiles
The Patriots are waiving WR John Jiles, per source. The big pass catcher is a practice squad candidate.
— Doug Kyed (@DougKyed) August 26, 2025
John Jiles was the last flanked or “Z” on the Patriots’ roster, but he’s a reliable, big-bodied receiver whose size translates to his blocking. Jiles caught nine of 11 targets 98 yards this season, securing three of his four contested targets.
CB Brandon Crossley
Undrafted free-agent CB Brandon Crossley has been informed the Patriots intend to release him. Got his hands on the football in camp.
Patriots have some depth there, which made it a longer-odds push for a roster spot.
— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 26, 2025
Brandon Crossley was at the bottom of the Patriots’ cornerback depth chart, but he was competitive when given opportunities this summer. Crossley allowed just four completions and 29 yards on seven preseason targets, forcing an incompletion and totaling three stops.
K Parker Romo
Andy Borregales won the Patriots kicking competition. Parker Romo has been released, per source
— Mark Daniels (@ByMarkDaniels) August 26, 2025
Parker Romo had a strong start to the summer and outperformed rookie Andy Borregales at times, but both his consistency and opportunities waned in recent weeks. This preseason, Romo was 3-3 on extra points and 2-2 on field goals, including a 57-yarder against the Commanders, but he was flagged against the Vikings fort kicking short of the Landing Zone.
CB Miles Battle
#Patriots release Miles Battle, per a league source
— Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) August 26, 2025
With Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis missing extended time, Miles Battle was a top backup and occasional starter at outside cornerback behind Marcus Jones, Alex Austin, D.J. James. Battle allowed a 105.6 passer rating on 11 targets and forced two incompletions this preseason.
OT Demontrey Jacobs
The #Patriots are waiving OT Demontrey Jacobs, per source. He started 13 games last season and could be a waiver target.
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) August 26, 2025
Demontrey Jacobs was the top swing tackle early in training camp, but rookie Marcus Bryant beat him out and never looked back. Jacobs was one of just two Patriots linemen to allow a hit this preseason, giving up four through three games (none in the finale).
