The NFL preseason concluded on Sunday evening with the Patriots losing 20-10 to the Washington Commanders. Now? It’s unfortunately time for roster cuts.
Each team must get down from their 90-player offseason roster to a 53-man regular season roster prior to Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 27 3:03 p.m. | We’re now less than an hour from cut-down time, and the Patriots have waived CB Shaun Wade, according to the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed. New England is now at 58 players and has to make 5 moves by 4 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 27 2:11 p.m. | The Patriots are releasing OT Kellen Diesch, per Mark Daniels of MassLive.
Tuesday, Aug. 27 12:40 p.m. | The Boston Globe’s Chris Price reports that the Patriots are releasing OT Calvin Anderson with an injury settlement. 60 players remain.
Tuesday, Aug. 27 12:35 p.m. | The Patriots are releasing WR David Wallis and DE Jotham Russell, per Doug Kyed. Both will likely return on the practice squad.
Tuesday, Aug. 27 12:30 p.m. | ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that New England is releasing K Chad Ryland. Joey Slye wins the kicking competition.
Tuesday, Aug. 27 11:25 a.m. | The Patriots have waived DB A.J. Thomas, per the Boston Globe’s Christopher Price. Their roster now sits at 63 players.
Tuesday, Aug. 27 11:10 a.m. | New England has waived WR Matt Landers, DE Kobe Jones, and OL Liam Fordanel, per the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed. Landers and Fornadel are both candidates for the practice squad. The Patriots’ roster sits at 64 players.
Tuesday, Aug. 27 11:09 a.m. | In another surprising move, the Patriots have waived RB Kevin Harris, per MassLive’s Mark Daniels. This leaves JaMycal Hasty as the offense’s third running back behind Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson. If he isn’t claimed, Harris should be a prime practice squad candidate after a strong summer. New England’s roster sits at 67 players.
Tuesday, Aug. 27 10:44 a.m. | In an unsurprising move, New England has waived QB Bailey Zappe. The room now consists of Jacoby Brissett, Drake Maye, and Joe Milton. The Patriots roster sits at 68 players.
Tuesday, Aug. 27 10:27 a.m. | The Patriots made another series of cuts this morning, releasing S Joshuah Bledsoe, DT Armon Watts, and RB Terrell Jennings, per the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed. Jennings, a UDFA, will be a practice squad candidate while Watts was one of New England’s first free agent signings this offseason. He’s now cut after a disappointing summer.
Tuesday, Aug. 27 9:50 a.m. | The Patriots are waiving TE Mitchell Wilcox, per Tom Pelissero. Their roster now sits at 72 players.
Tuesday, Aug. 27 9:30 a.m. | With the Patriots needing to get their roster down to 53 active players by 4 p.m., they are officially keeping WR Kendrick Bourne (ACL) and OL Cole Strange (knee) on the PUP list to start the season. Both players are now ineligible to return until Week 5. New England’s active roster now sits at 73 players. 21 more designations to go.
Monday, Aug. 26 4:43 p.m. | New England’s roster currently sits at 75 players. They must cut 23 more players by Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Monday, Aug. 26 4:04 p.m. | The Patriots officially announced the released of 14 players on Monday. Rounding out the cuts include: DT Josiah Bronson, T Zuri Henry, DE Christian McCarroll, C Charles Turner, CB Mikey Victor, and TE Jacob Warren.
Monday, Aug. 26 2:45 p.m. | UDFA running back Deshaun Fenwick has been cut, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Fenwick was originally released in the middle of training camp but returned the following week. He’s a likely practice scandidate.
Monday, Aug. 26 1:53 p.m. | Despite a lack of depth along their defensive front, New England is releasing DE William Bradley-King.
Monday, Aug. 26 1:24 p.m. | The Patriots are releasing DT Sam Roberts and LB Steele Chambers, per Doug Kyed.
Monday, Aug. 26 1:15 p.m. | New England has made their second offensive roster move of the day, releasing WR Kawaan Baker, per MassLive’s Mark Daniels.
Monday, Aug. 26 12:58 p.m. | Two more cuts come in on Monday afternoon as according to the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed, the Patriots have released cornerback Azizi Hearn and TE La’Michael Pettway.
Monday, Aug. 26 11:23 a.m. | The Patriots have made their first cut, releasing LS Tucker Addington per Doug Kyed. Addington signed with New England during the summer after starting long snapper Joe Cardona missed some time due to injury.
Monday, Aug. 26 9:26 a.m. | On his now-weekly appearance on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show, head coach Jerod Mayo told the program that the Patriots have held a true quarterback competition this preseason, and that rookie Drake Maye, “has outplayed Jacoby [Brissett]”. He added that factors outside preseason play (i.e. experience, offseason program performance, etc.) will also weigh in on the decision.
Monday, Aug. 26 9:00 a.m. | The Kansas City Chiefs reunited with WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, signing him to a league minimum deal, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Smith-Schuster was released by the Patriots earlier this month.
