Report: Joe Biden’s Choice for Vice President is Down to Two

Joe Biden is back home in Delaware, holding one-on-one meetings with numerous contenders to be his Vice President.  Reports are that Biden has narrowed his choices to two candidates.

According to Axios, these are Sen. Kamala Harris of California and Susan Rice.  Rice was national security adviser and ambassador to the United Nations under President Obama’s administration.

Harris has long been the favorite throughout the process with upstarts such as Gretchen Whitmer, Val Demings, and Amy Klobuchar making surges up the betting board.

Axios suggested that they “would be surprised if he picks anyone else” other than Rice or Harris.

According to BetOnline.ag, the California Senator is a -130 favorite versus the entire field while Rice sits at +175.  No one else is within striking distance.  Demings sits as a +750 longshot.  Karen Bass, who was a hot name in recent weeks, and is considered third in Biden’s power rankings, is way back at +1600

Biden told the press that he’d have his wing girl by “the first week in August,” which days before the virtual Democratic Convention on August 17th.

Biden is likely to pick his nominee in the days leading up to the convention.  Much as how Hillary Clinton didn’t name Sen. Tim Kaine and Donald Trump didn’t pick Mike Pence as their running mates until days before their conventions.
