Even though it’s just the preseason, the Bruins have gotten very different results out of their goaltenders.
Jeremy Swayman has stopped 68 of the 73 shots he’s faced in 151:01 of preseason action for a save percentage of .919. Linus Ullmark, on the other hand, has allowed six goals on 32 shots in 91:58 of time for an .813 save percentage. He’s probably going to get the full 60 minutes in the Bruins final preseason game on Wednesday night against the Capitals.
This begs a simple question: Who should start the first game of the season?
On the latest Bruins Beat, Conor Ryan and I discussed that. Yes, it’s only the preseason, but Ullmark has been shaky and Swayman has been stellar. We got into whether or not the Bruins should be worried about Ullmark. Remember: He’s making $5 million per season for the next four.
We also got into what the Bruins should do with Jack Studnicka and why Providence isn’t the place for him.
