Steve Nash was interviewed pregame before Game 4 of the Nets’ first-round series vs the Boston Celtics. He talked about how to improve in this one after Game 3, how important it is to set the tone physically, and how impressive Jayson Tatum is.
Nash talked about what the team has to do differently in this game after the Celtics killed them on the offensive end in Game 3: “I think it’s just fundamentals… just making sure that we double-down… they were a little too comfortable last game… we had a good start and maybe took our foot off the gas a little bit… it’s great for us to face some adversity.”
He was also asked about how important it is to set the tone physically instead of letting the other team do that: “I think that’s true of every team in basketball… you’re going to give your advantage in some way… you could probably name five or six mini battles within a game that allow a team to get the upper hand… I think it is important for us to do that.”
Lastly, Nash was asked about Jayson Tatum, who scored 50 points in Game 3: “He’s very intelligent, skilled… he’s a difficult matchup… we just gotta make him work hard… I thought we put him on the line too much… he is a terrific player… we have to be able to find different ways to win.”
