For those who haven’t heard, the NBA’s new play-in tournament is a new way for the league to determine the eight teams that will make the NBA playoffs. What happens is only the top six seeds in each conference are guaranteed a trip to the postseason. The teams that finish seventh through tenth will face off in a four-team play-in tournament to determine the final two playoff spots in each conference.
The Celtics currently sit at the 7th seed with a 34-31 record, meaning they are one place behind securing a playoff spot and are in the playoff tournament. The Celtics are trailing the Heat by one game for the sixth spot. With the upcoming schedule (7 games left), and two being against the Heat, can the Celtics get back into securing a playoff spot or will they be stuck in the play-in. Also, if they do get stuck in the play-in tournament what are their scenario and chances vs what they would have for going straight to the playoffs? Celtics Beat hosts, Adam Kaufman and Evan Valenti are joined by fellow NBA journalist Sean Deveney to answer all these questions in the clip above.
