Jaylen Brown’s wrist injury will cost him his season and all but end the Celtics chances of making a deep NBA Playoffs run. John Zannis argued on the Garden Report that this could actually be a good thing, and give Boston’s brass, coach and players a built-in excuse for the season if the team loses in the play-in tournament or in round one of the playoffs. It’s a given that there are bigger issues, given Boston’s compete level, early deficits in games and lackluster defense. Jayson Tatum and Brown were available for most of the season and it still put the Celtics on pace to be no better than the fifth or sixth seed in the east. Will that shield Danny Ainge, Brad Stevens, Tatum and Brown from consequences?
