Celtics Fall Apart Late Against Heat, Lose 106-98

The Celtics return to Boston for a pivotal matchup with the Miami Heat and the one seed hanging in the balance. Both Boston and Miami brought the defensive intensity tonight, but with frustrations with the officials and the absence of Robert Williams on both ends of the floor, the Celtics ultimately lost to the Heat 106-98. The Celtics now slide as far as 4th place in the Eastern Conference with only five games remaining in the regular season.

“This is a good test playoff-wise,” said Head Coach Ime Udoka, “This is what it’s going to be like coming up in a few weeks here…every game is not going to be easy, you’re not going to win every game by 20 points”

When asked about being worried about standings on a night-to-night basis, Udoka said “We’re more worried about how we’re playing than looking at the standings night-to-night.”

Al Horford echoed Ime Udoka, saying “I think it was good for our team to be in this position. Obviously, there a playoff team and this is just a great time for us to find ways to get better.”

“There ain’t no moral victories,” said Jayson Tatum, “You either win or you lose and we lost. But you can learn from every game. The season was not decided today. We’ll be better.”
