Boston was without Kemba Walker and Robert Williams, and with the Nets shooting 59.3% from deep on the game, the Celtics couldn’t keep up. Following the game, a fan in the crowd threw a water bottle at Kyrie Irving as he was exiting the floor and going down the tunnel. The fan was identified, arrested, and banned for life from TD Garden.
Jayson Tatum was asked about the altercation in his postgame interview
“I just heard about that before I sat down and I mean…18,000 people in the building, I guess in any arena there are a few bad seeds, you know? I don’t want that to overshadow the rest of the fans that came and supported us tonight. I was extremely happy to see that, but obviously, there’s no place in the NBA for throwing bottles or throwing anything at a player, so I’m sure that they’ll handle that right away.”
Boston will suit up for what may be their final game of the season tomorrow night at the Barclays Center. Tip-off will be at 7:30 PM.
