The Celtics are struggling to cope with Robert Williams’ injury. Tristan Thompson has been playing solid basketball but did not find much success vs Bam Adebayo and the Miami Heat. Williams is dealing with turf toe and according to Brad Stevens, whether or not he plays will be a game-time decision moving forward.
Williams played 11 minutes in the first game vs Miami but did not return after halftime. With the recent slew of injuries to players such as Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart, potentially losing Williams on a nightly basis is a dagger to the heart.
The Garden Report breaks down the importance of Williams to the Celtics roster. They compare his game to Thompson’s and why Williams is a much better fit. He makes the team around him better in a way that Thompson is unable to do. The hope now is that Williams will be available for the play-in and/or the playoffs.
