Tom Brady, Kenzie Kent To Be Honored at 3rd Annual Globies December 5 at House of Blues in Boston

BOSTON — New England’s premier sports awards celebration is back for its third year as The Globies take place on December 5 at House of Blues Boston. Bringing together the best of the region’s sports scene, The Globies are judged and presented by The Boston Globe Sports Department, recognizing athletes, teams and individuals in a variety of categories.

Festivities get underway on the Orange Carpet with Athlete Arrivals from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. The awards part of the night begins immediately thereafter and runs until 9:30 p.m.

In authoring the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history and leading the Patriots to another incredible postseason run, Tom Brady will be honored as the Male Athlete of the Year presented by MGM Springfield. Brady edged out Brad Marchand of the Bruins, Chris Sale of the Red Sox and Isaiah Thomas of the Celtics. On the women’s side, Kenzie Kent, the two-sport athlete from Boston College, appropriately will take home two awards. She earned the distinction of Female Athlete of the Year presented by MGM Springfield and College Athlete of the Year presented by Just Water for her two-sport dominance in ice hockey and lacrosse.

Selected by the Boston Globe editorial team, Patriots great Gino Cappelletti will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, while former Patriots offensive lineman Ryan O’Callaghan will be recognized with The Courage Award. Additionally, Red Sox teammates Christian Vazquez and Xander Bogaerts will receive the Good Sport Award presented by Mattie Audi.
