On the latest edition of the Black N’ Gold Hockey Podcast on the CLNS Media Network, hosts Heather Ingerson and Mark Allred discuss all the news and updates from the NHL Boston Bruins as training camp continues. The B’s have two preseason games remaining on the schedule this week; then it’s a 10-day lull as the puck drops on the new 2021/22 regular season on October 16th, 2021, against the visiting Dallas Stars.
We talked about Bruins prospect Jack Studnicka and his play recently as the young man who’s in the last season of his entry-level contract is pushing to stay at the NHL level to open the season but will have a core of veterans also trying to secure roster spots. We also touch on the goaltending aspect of the game as Linus Ullmark, and Jeremy Swayman get ready as a tandem for the rigors of a full 82 games schedule.
One member of this Bruins club who will feel the pressure of the upcoming NHL regular season is a healthy Charlie Coyle. Although he’s yet to earn the second-line center role, the veteran forward will challenge hard to be the best he can be in the absence of longtime center David Krejci. Coyle, who had off-season surgery, has been out of preseason game action as he continues to heal but should be good to go for when the puck drops in under two weeks.
We touched on the importance of players like defensemen Brandon Carlo and Charlie McAvoy getting opportunities to represent the B’s as assistant captains during preseason action. Both could be solid candidates for the additions of letters on their shoulders as their Bruins careers continue.
